The sturdily built and mobile defensive unit named Ethen Sampson is a cross-breed between the fullbacks of the throwback era and the wing-backs of the modern age, a defence first full-back with the determination required to ensure that even the trickiest of wingers dreads coming over to his side of the field. A strong tackler with the composure to time his tackles well and not only win the ball but also ensure that the attacker thinks twice before trying to elude the Mitchell’s Plain born lad, versatile enough to apply his no-nonsense approach to defending in the more central areas of the field while still adding value to the side, Ethen is a confident young lad that has all the tools necessary to become an established footballer in the game for years to come. Having already shown the aptitude required from a young player, acclimatising well in an unfamiliar environment while spending time in the Premier Developmental League and still displaying the necessary traits required to earn a slot in the Vancouver first team, the ASD Cape Town graduate and former skipper already seems well on his way to having it made in the U.S.A and becoming one of the best South African defenders in the game for the next decade.
