The Grand Stand View

Some football clubs are built to always be mid-table finishers each season, with the odd great season thrown in where they punch even further above their weight, Free State Stars are one of those football clubs and they will be praying for a great season this time around as the middle of the table will be there for the taking if they have their shop in order. A top 8 finish should never seem unrealistic for a football club that boasts the tradition and pedigree that Stars do, yet the club will have to step up their efforts in all departments if they are to fulfil the potential they possess; some consistency in the coaching department would aid their cause a great deal in this regard as they are a club that thrives off managerial consistency to maintain a good level of performances throughout the season. The fact that they have managed to retain the services of last season’s premier goal scorer Moeketsi Sekola should serve as great encouragement to Stars as they now have a man they can rely on for goals and they will now need to show some better game management skills in those must-win encounters against the teams in and around them in the middle of the table as those are the games they tend to slip up in and fail to get maximum points from. Naturally being a side that relies on unknown quantities rising to the occasion each season, Stars will be praying a few new stars are added to the Mzansi diski galaxy this season in Bethlehem.
